Using Real-Time Web Access

Real-time web access allows you to ground your conversations in current facts and conduct thorough research on complex topics. When enabled, your AI assistant can search the internet to provide up-to-date information beyond its training data.

When to Use Web Search

Web Search is ideal for queries that require:

  • Current events and news (e.g., "What are today's market trends?")

  • Real-time data (e.g., stock prices, weather, recent research)

  • Fact-checking and verification

  • Recent developments in your industry or topic

Example: "What are the latest AI regulations in the EU?"

When to Disable Web Search

Turn off Web Search when:

  • Working with internal company knowledge (use Context or Assistant instead)

  • Asking questions that don't require real-time information

  • You need faster response times (web searches add processing time)

  • Discussing confidential or sensitive topics that should remain internal

Tips & Best Practices

  • Check citations: Web Search results include source links — verify information from reputable sources

  • Be specific: Clear queries yield better search results (e.g., "Q4 2024 tech earnings" instead of "tech news")

  • Combine features: Use Web Search alongside Context to enrich internal knowledge with external data

  • Monitor usage: Web Search increases response time — disable it when not needed
