BlackMountain offers several tools to help you get more out of every conversation — from quick actions like copying and regenerating responses to advanced features like forking, pinning notes, and collaborative workflows with Ask Human.
Message Actions
Every AI response in your chat includes an action bar with quick actions. You'll find these icons directly below each model response:

Copy | Copy response | Copies the full response to your clipboard |
Regenerate | Regenerate response | Generates a new response using the same model |
Fork | Fork conversation | Creates a duplicate of the entire conversation |
Ask Human | Ask Human | Triggers targeted follow-up questions for collaborative thinking |
... | More options | Opens menu with Export as Markdown and Pin as note |
Copy Response
Click the copy icon to copy the full AI response to your clipboard. The content is copied in Markdown format, so formatting like headings, bold text, and lists is preserved when pasting into other tools.
Regenerate Response
Click the regenerate icon to have the model generate a new response to the same prompt. This is useful when:
The response doesn't fully answer your question
You want to see an alternative approach or perspective
The output quality isn't what you expected
The regenerated response replaces the previous one using the currently selected model.
Tip: If regenerating doesn't improve the result, try switching to a different model. Each model has different strengths and response styles. See Model Selection for guidance.
Export as Markdown
Click the three-dot menu (...) on any AI response and select Export as Markdown to download that individual message as a .md file. This is useful for saving specific responses to use in documents, reports, or other tools.
Pin Notes
Pin relevant insights from any AI response to keep them visible throughout your conversation. Pinned notes stay accessible as a reference while you continue chatting — so you don't have to scroll back to find important information.
How to Pin a Note
Pin an entire conversation:
Click the three-dot menu (...) below the AI response
Select Pin as note
The entire response will be saved and remain visible in your conversation
Pin specific text passages:
Highlight the text you want to pin within the AI response
Right-click on the selected text
Select Pin as note from the context menu
The selected passage will be saved and remain visible in your conversation
Ask Human
Ask Human is a collaborative feature designed to prompt you to think deeper about a topic. When activated, the AI model generates targeted follow-up questions — presented as clickable buttons — that encourage structured reflection and cognitive engagement.
How It Works
Click the Ask Human icon in the message action bar
The model generates a set of relevant follow-up questions
Click one of the suggested answer buttons to respond, or type your own answer in the input field
The conversation continues based on your input
This feature is particularly useful for:
Strategic thinking — Exploring different angles of a problem
Decision-making — Structuring your thought process with guided questions
Content creation — Refining ideas through targeted back-and-forth
Forking a Conversation
Forking creates a complete duplicate of your current conversation. This allows you to take a chat in a new direction without losing the original — useful when you want to explore different solutions or approaches from the same starting point.
How to Fork
Click the fork icon in the message action bar
A duplicate conversation is created in your sidebar
The original conversation keeps its name
The forked conversation is named [original name] (fork)
Both conversations are fully independent — changes in one don't affect the other.
When to fork: Forking is especially useful when you've built up significant context in a conversation and want to test a different approach without starting over.
Bulk Export & Import
Looking to export or import all your conversations at once? This is available in Settings → Chats, where you can download all conversations and folders as a JSON file and re-import them. See Managing Conversations for details.
